“Tostones” (also called plátanos fritos or frito verde) are twice-fried plantain slices. They are a side dish that accompanies the main course of almost any meal, or is even eaten with a variety of meats (chicharrón, roasted chicken, BBQ, etc.). A typical Dominican dish or snack.

Live from her home, our houselady Nena Hernández shows you how to prepare them. Nena has been working with us at IIC since the very beginning of our school, over 25 years now. She is usually taking care of our students on site at the school in Sosua, prepares them breakfast, keeps their rooms tidy and clean, does their laundry, and besides being a passionate Bachata dancer and great cook, she always has a smile for everybody. Like all of us from IIC right now during Corona, she is staying safely at home.
