European low-cost carrier World2fly has announced 18 weekly flights on routes connecting Madrid and several cities in Portugal with the Dominican Republic. This move is part of a strategy to strengthen air connections between Europe and the Caribbean.

The route expansion starts in July with new direct flights from Madrid and major Portuguese cities to various Dominican cities, adding Puerto Plata (POP) and Santiago (STI) to their already destination airports Punta Cana (PUJ), Santo Domingo (SDQ) and La Romana (LRM).

Minister of Tourism David Collado recently made the announcement emphasizing that the arrival of new direct flights reinforces strategies to attract more tourists and promote the Dominican Republic as a safe and accessible destination. Collado said that the opening of new air routes is excellent news for the country, as they boost the arrival of European tourists and contribute to the strengthening of the national economy.

World2fly is a Spanish/Portuguese Charter/ACMI airline that operates out of Adolfo Suarez-Madrid Barajas Airport in Madrid, Spain, and Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, Portugal. The young airline, part of the Iberostar Hotel Group, offers accessible flight options for tourists and business travelers alike.

It has been gaining growing popularity amongst travellers for its modern aircraft and punctuality.
