Programs for your Group

Taking students abroad changes perspectives. You give them the opportunity to grow in the shortest possible time by being immersed in another culture. You open another window for them to look at the world.

Rich in culture, history, political and social diversity, the Dominican Republic could be the new window for your next faculty- or teacher-led Study Abroad Program. IIC’s study abroad programs in the Dominican Republic provide authentic learning opportunities to your students. To mention a few highlights:

• Experience Dominican daily life with a local family
• Learn to cook a typical Dominican dish, called La Bandera
• Learn about the impacts of the Taino culture onto Dominican identity during a field trip with first-hand impressions
• Discuss gender aspects, public health and environmental challenges, or Dominican-Haitian relations with local experts

We work directly with faculty, teachers, and the institution’s study abroad experts to provide a customized program, tailored to your needs regarding focus, length, location, and cost.

The following in-country services can be arranged through IIC: Spanish classes, culture trainings, immersion opportunities, in-country transportation, cultural encounters, educational field trips, an extracurricular program filled with activities like cooking or dance classes, visits to museums, excursions to cultural/historic local sites, and of course to the beach.

The educational Spanish language part can be met through short kick-off workshops on Spanish & Culture or intensive daily Spanish classes, depending on your program content. Topic-related classes like Medical Spanish, Business Spanish etc. can be applied as well.

The Intensive Spanish classes cover 15 to 20 class hours per week to meet the requirements for university credits. IIC has a School of Record relationship with Seton Hill University for students enrolled in Spanish programs at IIC.
