Spanish and Wind-/ Kitesurfing
Combines Spanish classes with windsurfing or kitesurfing lessons. The Spanish course is held at IIC in Sosua; the wind and kitesurfing classes take place in nearby surfer’s paradise Cabarete.
The program has a modular structure: Every regular 20 lesson-Spanish course can be mixed with any water sports course. So you can create your individual program package, if you like as well with lodging and/or airport pick-up.
Cabarete is known as one of the best water sports areas in the world. While windsurfing beginners and experts find excellent conditions in the long stretched Cabarete Bay, kitesurfers’ spot is at Kite Beach, only 500 meters away.
At night, people meet in one of the bars or clubs on the beach and enjoy partying together while romantics stroll along the bay watching the sunset. Cabarete is perfect for everyone.
Our water sports school is located directly in Cabarete. With more than 25 years of experience Cabarete Windsports Club (formerly: Happy Surf) belongs to the first and most renowned watersports centers in the country. Classes and briefings are multilingual. Individual care, the surfer’s safety, and fun are the top priority. That is why the windsurfing and kitesurfing courses are private or semi-private (1 to max. 2 students per instructor) .
With regards to wind and weather conditions, windsurfing and kitesurfing is usually possible all week long (Monday through Sunday). It takes about 15 minutes to get from Sosua to Cabarete by public transport and costs only a few Pesos.
IIC Sosua is located in the district of El Batey, surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden. Classes consist of 20 45-minute-lessons per week (4 les/day). Students can choose between group courses and private lessons.
Classes are 5 days a week, Monday till Friday, usually from 9am till 12:30pm.
The course concept combines grammar with conversation: on one side the grammatical basis of the language, the Castellano, is taught – the linguistic differences between the Spanish spoken in Latin-America are pointed out during the course. On the other side the institute focuses greatly on providing students with the opportunity to practice speaking. For this reason, group courses are limited to a maximum of 7 participants.
