Spanish and Latin Dance

Dominicans love to dance. Singing is probably the only other passion which can rival dancing as food for the Dominican’s soul.

Of all the rhythms that enriched their cultural heritage, the Merengue is the most collective expression of the people’s soul. As a popular musical form, it is very dynamic and varies from one generation to the next.

Interesting to Know:

In 2016, the UNESCO declared the Dominican Merengue an “intangible cultural heritage of Humanity”.

2019 then followed the Dominican Bachata music and dance, honored by the UNESCO as well as a Cultural Heritage.

THE PROGRAM

“Spanish & Latin Dance” presents the language and dance world of the Dominican Republic. In the mornings, the participants tackle Spanish vocabularies. In the afternoons, professional dance instructors teach them the steps and passionate body language of the typical local Latin dances: Merengue, Bachata, and Salsa.

Spanish classes take place at IIC. The dance classes are taught by professional dance teachers in a local dance academy. The dance school is max. 20 minutes by public transportation from IIC.

The program has a modular structure: Every regular 20 lesson-Spanish course can be mixed with the dance add-on.

So you create your individual Spanish & Latin Dance-program.
